Using the Post Area of the Dashboard Screen

Use the Post area of the Dashboard screen to create posts to add to the Bulletin Board area. Posts are used to send messages to other users. Posts can be set for viewing by specific users, or by all users.

Although all users can create posts and add links, only users with Bulletin Admin privileges can pin posts. Pinned posts remain at the top of the Bulletin Board area, even after other posts are added. Otherwise, posts are displayed chronologically in the list.

To create a post:
  1. In the Post area, enter a message. To bold the text, press Ctrl+B. To italicize the text, press Ctrl+I. To undo typing, press Ctrl+Z. To insert a line break, press Shift+Enter.
  2. To add a link to the post, click the Link icon in the upper-right corner. The Add a Link window opens. In the URL field, enter the web address of the link. For example, www.spillman.com. Click OK to close the window and add the link to the message.

TIP: To add a link to text in the message, highlight the text first, and then add the link. For example, to link the words "the Spillman website" to a url, highlight the text before clicking the Link icon.

  3. To share the post with specific users, click the Share icon in the lower-left corner. The Set Post Visibility window opens. By default, the Everybody check box is selected, and the post will be visible to everyone. To change the visibility, clear the check box. The fields for the other options are enabled.
  4. Use the following fields to select the recipients of the post. Multiple recipients can be selected. Use the Search field to locate the recipient, or select the Select All check box to select all displayed recipients within that field.
    — Agencies: Shares the post to everyone in the specified agency.
    — Groups: Shares the post to everyone in the specified group. Your administrator creates the groups.
    — User Types: Shares the post to everyone with the specified user type. Your administrator sets the user type of each user.
    — User: Shares the post to the specified user.
  5. Click Set to set the visibility of the post. In the Post area, the Share icon changes according to the type of recipients selected. If more than one type was selected, then the symbol for the most general type is used. For example, if a user and an agency are selected, then the Share icon displays the agency symbol.
  6. To pin the post, click the Pin icon in the upper-right corner. To unpin a post, see the article "Using the Bulletin Board Area of the Dashboard Screen."
  7. Click Post, or press Enter. The post is added to the Bulletin Board area of the recipients.
