Using the Natures Module

As an administrator, use the Natures module to customize the natures that can be selected on the Call for Service, Incident, Traffic Stop, and Maintenance records.

To open the Natures Search screen, from the Administration dashboard or the App Settings menu, select Natures. See the article “Searching for Records.”

To add a Nature record:
  1. From the Nature Search screen or a Nature record, click Add New. The Adding New Nature screen opens.
  2. Complete the appropriate fields. For field descriptions, see the section “Fields on the Adding New Nature Screen” below.
  3. Click Save.

The Adding New Nature screen contains the following fields:
  • Code: Enter a code for the nature. This value is displayed in the drop-down list when the nature is selected.
  • Maintenance Related check box: If the nature is related to maintenance, then select this check box. If this check box is not selected, then the nature cannot be used with a Maintenance record.
  • Traffic Related check box: If the nature is related to traffic, then select this check box. If this check box is not selected, then the nature cannot be used with a Traffic Stop record.
  • Expired check box: To expire a nature, select this check box. To use the nature, clear this check box. By default, this check box is cleared.

    NOTE: When a nature is expired, it is not deleted. Users can still see the nature in existing records, as well as search for records using the nature. However, users cannot use expired natures when creating new records.
  • Category: Select the category of the nature.
  • Description: Enter a description of the nature.
