Statutes

The statutes that you enter in the Statutes table will appear in the Statute/Ordinance Code drop down in Incidents, Traffic Stop and Citations. 

Adding a Statute record

Use the Administration tool in Nova to add, edit, and delete Statute records. Access the Administration tool through the Gear icon in the top-right corner.

To add a Statute record:

  1. Navigate to Administration through the Gear icon in the top right
  2. Select Statutes under App Settings.
  3. Click the Add New button. The application displays the Adding New Statute page.
  4. Enter information in the appropriate fields.
    • Entries in the Code field must be unique.
  5. Click Save.

Note: You can also access the Add New button from any Statute record.

Editing a Statute record

To edit a Statute record:

  1. Navigate to Administration through the Gear icon in the top right
  2. Select Statutes under App Settings.
  3. You can sort the columns to find a record or you can use the Quick Search feature.
  4. To search using the Quick Search feature:
    • Enter full or partial information in any of the search fields.
    • Click the Search button.
  5. The application filters the results to match any of the data you entered. The more specific data you enter, the more specific the results.
  6. Select the record you want to edit. The application displays the record.
  7. Click the Edit button.
  8. Update information in the appropriate fields.
  9. Click Save. Click Cancel to cancel your changes and return to the Statute record.

Deleting a Statute record

To delete a Statute record:

  1. Navigate to Administration through the Gear icon in the top right
  2. Select Statutes under App Settings.
  3. You can sort the columns to find a record or you can use the Quick Search feature.
  4. To search using the Quick Search feature:
    • Enter full or partial information in any of the search fields.
    • Click the Search button.
  5. The application filters the results to match any of the data you entered. The more specific data you enter, the more specific the results.
  6. Select the Statute record you want to edit. The application displays the Statute record.
  7. Click the More button.
  8. Select the Delete option from the drop-down menu.
  9. The application displays the following message:
    Are you sure you want to delete this statute record?
  10. Click Delete to delete the record or click Cancel to cancel your attempt and return to the Statute record.
