Entering Phone Numbers

The process of entering phone numbers is the same throughout the software. Phone numbers are limited to 20 characters, and can only include a plus sign (+), the numbers 0-9, and a space ( ). The plus sign can only be used as the first character, and must be followed by one, two, or three digits and then a space to indicate the country code.

For US-based agencies, all phone numbers are assumed to have the country code of +1 so you don't have to type in the country code unless it's not a US-based phone number.

The software automatically formats phone numbers when they are viewed on a record. For US-based agencies, all phone numbers that have the country code +1 and are 10 digits long use the formatting of (123) 456-7890. If the phone number has a country code of +1 but doesn't have 10 digits, then it's displayed as 123456789. If the country code is anything other than +1, then the phone number is displayed as +44 12345678.

To enter a phone number, complete the fields in the Phone Numbers area or a phone field.

The Phone Numbers area generally contains the following fields:
  • Primary check box: Select to indicate the phone number is the main contact number for the person.
  • Type: Select the type of number.
  • Number: Enter the phone number.
  • Ext: Enter the extension.
