Fields in the Vehicle Tab in the Vehicle Screen

The Vehicle tab in the Adding New Vehicle and Editing Vehicle screens contains the following fields, which are separated by area.

Description area

Use the Description area to track basic information about the vehicle.
  • Type: Select the type of vehicle.
  • Style: Select the style of the vehicle.
  • Year: Enter the year the vehicle was made.
  • Make: Select the name of the company that made the vehicle.
  • Model: Select the model of the vehicle.
  • Length: Enter the length of the vehicle.
  • Primary Color: Select the primary color of the vehicle.
  • Secondary Color: Select the secondary color of the vehicle.
  • Power: Enter the measurement of the power of the vehicle.
  • Power Type: Enter the unit used to measure the power of the vehicle.

Registration area

Use the Registration area to track information about the registration of the vehicle.
  • License Plate Number: Enter the license plate number of the vehicle.
  • Year Expires: Enter the year that the registration expires.
  • License State: Select the state that issued the license.
  • License Type: Select the type of license for the vehicle.
If the vehicle is a boat, then the fields are adjusted. 
  • Registration Number: Enter the registration number of the boat.
  • Year Expires: Enter the year that the registration of the boat expires.
  • Registration State: Select the state in which the boat is registered.

Owner area

Use the Owner area to track information about the owner of the vehicle.

To add owner information, locate the record to link to the Vehicle record. See the article "Connecting Records."

Identification area

Use the Identification area to track the identification numbers of the vehicle.
  • VIN: Enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle.
  • OAN: Enter the Owner Applied Number (OAN) of the vehicle.
  • Impound Number: Enter the impound number of the vehicle.

Local ID Numbers area

Use the Local ID Numbers area to track local identification numbers for the vehicle.
  • Type: Select the type of identification number. Your administrator creates the types.
  • Number: Enter the identification number.

Alerts area

Use the Alerts area to track information about alerts for the vehicle.
  • Alert: Select the type of alert. Your administrator creates the types.
  • Level: Select the color for the alert. The higher the color is on the list, the higher the priority of the alert using that color. Your agency determines what the colors mean.

Boat Information area

Use the Boat Information area to track information about the boat. This area is displayed only if the vehicle is a boat.
  • Boat Name: Enter the name of the boat.
  • Home Port: Enter the name of the home port of the boat.
  • Hull Material: Select the material of which the hull is made.
  • Hull Shape: Select the shape of the hull.
  • Boat Propulsion: Select the propulsion method of the boat.

Boat Trailer area

Use the Boat Trailer area to track information about the boat trailer connected to the boat. This area is displayed only if the vehicle is a boat.

To add boat trailer information, locate the record to link to the Vehicle record. See the article "Connecting Records."
